Animal welfare standards in organic farming in The Netherlands

Abstract
This paper summarizes a literature survey recently performed on the animal welfare status in organic farming in The Netherlands. It is shown that for several aspects of animal welfare, mostly related to behavior, comfort, and feeding level, Dutch organiclivestock production performs well. However, several other (mainly health) aspects arestill a major point of concern. The results are used for communication and for furtherimprovement of animal welfare standards
