Abstract
The papers address highway factors that contribute to truck accidents, car/ truck incidents, truck driver training issues, human factor considerations and truck equipment factors in truck crashes. Several design recommendations are identified to accommodate trucks in the design process. The design considerations include: trucks in work zones, traffic control devices for large trucks, monitoring and enhancing safety on the national network, and specific design and operational issues related to large trucks at at grade intersections.
