Abstract

A survey of plant parasitic nematodes associated with sugar-cane fields in five provinces of Costa Rica showed that the genera Pratylenchus, Helicotylenchus, Meloidogyne, Longidorus, Xiphinema, Trichodorus, Criconemoides, Criconema, Heterodera, Ditylenchus, Paratylenchus, Paratrophurus, Tylenchus, Psilenchus, Aphelenchus, Hemicycliophora and Tylanchorhynchus were present in the rhizosphere of this plant. The more frequently found genera in the 146 soil and root samples analized were Helicotylenchus, Pratylenchus, Criconemoides, Longidorus y Meloidogyne, present in 88.4%, 45.2%, 34.9%, 32.9% and 28.1% of the total, respectively
