Abstract
The functional characteristics of the Skylab are considered together with general information concerning the spacecraft and its equipment. The Skylab solar instruments are examined, giving attention to two H-alpha telescopes, a white light coronograph, X-ray spectrographic telescopes, a UV scanning polychromator/spectroheliometer, a dual X-ray telescope, an XUV spectrograph/spectroheliograph, and instruments of X-ray/UV solar photography. The Skylab solar observing programs are discussed along with aspects of astronaut training and details regarding the control and display devices of the spacecraft.
