A Case of Primary Cutaneous CD30 Positive Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma.

Abstract

A 58-year-old woman visited our hospital because of an indurated erythematous nodule on her right forearm. Histological findings revealed that atypical large lymphoid cells had massively infiltrated the middle and lower dermis. Immunohistochemically, the atypical cells were stained CD2, CD4, CD30, CD43, TCR α β, but ALK (anaplastic lymphoma kinase) was negative. This patient was then diagnosed as suffering from primary cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL). ALCL is widely recognized with its broad morphologic and phenotypic spectrum causing controversy in the diagnosis of this peculiar neoplasm. We experienced and reported the case as “aggressive type” ALCL. [Skin Cancer (Japan) 2001; 16: 367-371]
