Abstract
The Space InfraRed Telescope Facility (SIRTF), a cryogenic meter‐class infrared telescope in orbit around the Sun at a distance of 1.01 au, will be able to measure both discrete sources and the diffuse background in the infrared. Studies done with SIRTF will help to separate the contributions of different sources for the infrared intensities measured by DIRBE.
