Abstract

The document presents a detailed review about the sexual maturity stages scale used for cuttlefishes in the Centro Oceanográfico de Canarias (Instituto Español de Oceanografía), in the framework of the European Project Data Collection (Regulation (EC) 1543/2000). The maturity for Sepia officinalis and Sepia hierredda was determined through macroscopic examination of gonads, based on a general scale modified from Bakhayokho (1980) and Perales-Raya (2001).
