Abstract

Abstract The history, importance, and definition of schizophrenia spectrum disorders are described. Findings regarding the nature of the familial association between spectrum disorders and schizophrenia are reviewed and evaluated. Evidence does suggest that spectrum disorders may be genetically correlated with schizophrenia and thus potentially useful in efforts at identifying genes for schizophrenia liability.
