Abstract
Genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance for fifteen yield contributing traits were studied in seventy genotypes of muskmelon. The study indicated existence of considerable amount of genetic variability for all the characters studied. Yield per plant, flesh weight per fruit and average fruit weight exhibited higher values of genotypic and phenotypic coefficient of variation. High estimates of heritability, genotypic coefficient of variation and genetic advance were observed for yield per plant and average fruit weight. These characters can be effectively improved through selection.
