Abstract

Project team members assist the project manager in delivering project success. They often invest considerable time in the project’s design and execution and feel a strong sense of ownership over the project. The savvy project manager nourishes this feeling of ownership among team members and keeps the project team actively engaged. Project managers may spend more time with project team stakeholders than with any other stakeholder group. Time commitment to the project is likely to vary by team member. This chapter discusses how to deliver successful project outcomes with project team members. The successful project manager must be an effective team leader. The chapter presents tips on how to effectively launch project teams and engage members on an ongoing basis. A formal kickoff meeting is recommended for all projects. Icebreakers are intended to pull the project team together and build relationships. Controlled Vocabulary Terms kickoff meeting; project manager; Project team; Project time management; Stakeholders
