EU PRIORITIES FOR THE FUTURE: ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES IN THE CONTEXT OF COMMON AGRICULTURE POLICY TOWARDS 2020

The paper deals with the relation between environment and agriculture within the European Union policies. The importance of an environmental EU policy as a crossing policy is explained. It follows then, interdependence between environmental measures and other policies, most of all within CAP. The trends in the evolution of the CAP and consequently in terms of environmental measures are also presented. In this sense, the focus is on the CAP reform which opens its horizons after the years 2013-2014. The directions that must be followed within CAP are identified, in accordance with several principles proposed by the European Parliament and presented in the European Commission Communication “The CAP towards 2020... ”
