The investigations conducted in the southeastern United States, by members of the United States Public Health Service and by others, have proved that the form of typhus prevalent in this country is a disease separate and distinct from Old World or epidemic typhus. Reports from various parts of the United States and from other countries show large and apparently increasing incidence of the milder endemic form of typhus fever.
