Abstract

Use of organic source of manure in flower crops is now a prime area of intervention to combat the price hike of inorganic fertilizer and some other plant health and environmental concerns. An investigation was carried out in All India Coordinated Research Project on Floriculture at Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, P.O Kalyani, to study the effect of integrated nutrient management (INM) practices in Anthurium andreanum. The experiment was conducted with eight treatments. The treatment combination of common basal dose + 3% vermi wash + 3% Panchagavya + 3% Man-churian tea (T8) favorably influenced plant height (38.83 cm.), highest leaf area (203.33 cm2), maximum length of petiole (19.93 cm), maximum girth of petiole (1.33 cm), maximum number of spikes (7.00), largest spathe (9.57 cm × 7.47 cm), largest spadix (4.27 cm), longest flower stalk (34.50 cm), maximum girth of the stalk (1.30 cm), maximum field life (34.33 days) as well as vase life (19.74 days). In the second year of experiment, the same treatment was again found to be the best. The results proved that common basal dose + 3% vermi wash + 3% Panchagavya + 3% Manchurian tea is optimum for the growth and flowering of anthurium.
