Abstract
This chapter describes the design and development of neuraminidase inhibitors, zanamivir and oseltamivir, for the treatment of influenza virus infections. The chapter provides X-ray structural studies of sialic acid and neuraminidase complex, design of zanamivir, design of carbocyclic neuraminidase inhibitors, evolution of oseltamivir, and X-ray structural studies of neuraminidase–inhibitor complexes.
