Abstract

This paper describes the application linear periodic control techniques to the analysis and design of an individual cylinder air-fuel ratio controller for an 8-cylinder engine. A model of the engine including exhaust gas mixing in the manifold is developed. The resulting system was determined to be nearly unobservable. The exhaust manifold was subsequently redesigned, and a successful controller implemented.
