Abstract

Bioefficacy and economics of newer insecticides including neem products were assessed against aphid on fennel during rabi 2003–04 and 2004–05. Based on per cent reduction in aphid population, dimethoate (0.03%) was found most effective, reduced maximum aphid population (87.03%) with highest seed yield (15.38 q ha-1) and benefit cost ratio (1: 48.91) followed by imidacloprid (0.005%) and acephate (0.05%) which resulted in 91.79 and 89.83 per cent reduction in aphid population, respectively. The treatments of monocrotophos (0.036%), endosulfan (5.07%), thiamethoxam (0.005%), profenophos + cypermethrin (0.04%) and profenophos (0.05%) were found moderately effective, whereas the neem products viz., margocide CK (5ml1) neem oil (0.5%), NSKE (5.0%) and neem leaf extract (5.0%) were found less effective.
