Abstract
This chapter describes solutions to the fundamental problems that need to be addressed for the self-organization of Bluetooth devices into an ad hoc network. We describe the solutions proposed thus far for scatternet formation, and then introduce the basics of the Bluetooth technology. We define the problems underlying scatternet formation, and we also sum up the describable properties that should be satisfied by a generated scatternet. Later, we describe some concerns raised by the implementation of some of the protocols according to the current version of the Bluetooth specifications.
