Abstract
This research focuses on developing a model for optimal spacing between two or more successive speed humps by controlling driver speed with minimal variation from the speed limit of the road. Field spot speed studies and spacing measurements were performed on existing residential roadways—mainly local and collector roads. The model used by the California Traffic Control Devices Committee and the ITE publication Guidelines for the Design and Application of Speed Humps and Speed Tables were used for comparative analysis for the extracted model.
