Marine Fish Trend at major mechanised centres

During the last two decades the marine fish \nlandings in India by the mechanised sector have \nbeen steadily increasing. Presently, they form \nabout 60% of the total landings. Almost half of \nthe catches from mechanised boats are landed in \nsome of the major landing centres, such as Veraval, \nSassoon dock. Cochin Fisheries harbour, Sakthikulangara, \nRameswaram, Pudumanaikuppam and \nVisakhapatnam. It is felt that timely monitoring of \nthe landings at the major centres, where there are \nheavy concentration of mechanised boats, would \nbe useful to Central and State government departments, \nindustry and other agencies concerned \nwith marine fisheries.
