Abstract
Well systems and drilling equipment used on Conoco's Tension Leg Platform (TLP) and how they impact drilling operations and well design are discussed in the first of a two-part article. The articles also describe drilling achievements, including well completion, both from the semi-submersible rig and the TLP where drilling and completion time for a 12,000-ft well is now down to 22 days. Other comments are made on drilling and completion technique, innovations and other factors that have contributed to this successful program.
