Abstract
This chapter elaborates on an open simulator suite developed at the Technical University of Vienna: the “Vienna Long-Term Evolution (LTE) Simulators”, which currently comprises two simulators: the “Vienna LTE Link Level Simulator” and the “Vienna LTE System Level Simulator”. The chapter describes the overall structure of the “Vienna LTE Link Level Simulator”. Through its description, the simulator’s capabilities are presented, and some application examples are given. The chapter also describes the overall structure of the “Vienna LTE System Level Simulator”, as well as the link-to-system model, which abstracts the PHY layer procedures at low complexity. It shows two exemplary simulation results obtained with the “Vienna LTE simulators”. First, it presents a comparison between link-level throughput simulations of different Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) schemes against theoretical bounds. Second, it compares the performance of different state-of-the-art schedulers in a single-cell Multi-User (MU) environment. Controlled Vocabulary Terms long-term evolution; MIMO
