Abstract

Using a recently developed computer program, drainage swales can be designed to provide short-term storage of stormwater. Benefits of this approach to stormwater management include reduced sewer pipe size requirements, minimal pollution of streams and lakes from run-off, reduced flooding during peak storm periods and—if desired—a recharged aquifer.
