BRIDGE MAINTENANCE ON MINOR ROADS

Recommendations are presented for local road officials concerning bridge inspection and solutions for certain repairs, divided into six chapters: -bridge register - maintenance inspection -cleaning service -minor repairs major repairs -bridge strengthening. The inspection proposed is a check-up procedure, enabling practising engineers to do the job without having the routine of a full-time bridge inspector. Beyond this, the intention has been -among the necessary tasks -to make clear which problems can be solved by one's own efforts and which demand assistance from outside. Particular weight has been laid on safety aspects, among which an assessment of the potential reserves in bearing capacity of normal Danish bridges. (TRRL)
