Abstract
The extraction of uranium and cerium by TBP was investigated in the system: UO/sub 2/(NO/sub 3/)/sub 2/-Ce(NC/sub 3/)/sub 4/-1.5 N HN O/sub 3/H/sub 2/ O-- TBP. The distribution coefficients K/sub u/ and K/sub Ce/, fall off with the simultaneous extraction of uranium and cerium with 100% TBP, The value of K/sub Ce/ > K/sub U/ for solutions having an equal amount of both salts. At concentrations of greater than 200 g/l, the diatribution coefficients of uranyl nitrate and Ce(IV) are very close to each other. Hence, it is not possible to separate U(VI) and Ce(IV) by counter-current extraction methods. (TTT)
