Homicide by strangulation obfuscated by post-mortem burn as an accidental death- A rare case report

Homicide is one of the most serious consequences of interpersonal relation ending in violence.The incidence of homicide has been increasing at an alarming rate in India.Attempts to camouflage the homicidal incidents to the accidental ones is not unknown phenomenon, which neither the science and nor the law has been completely successful in either curbing or unearthing most of these incidents.We present one such case where the deceased was cold bloodedly strangulated and electrocuted and then an attempt was made simulate the death as an accidental one by inflicting a post mortem burn.Thanks to the team of autopsy surgeons, the case was resolved and the perpetrators were brought to book.
