Abstract

Abstract The genome of the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans has been completely sequenced and subjected to extensive analysis. The 100 Mb genome includes almost 20 000 protein‐coding genes and over 1000 structural and regulatory RNA genes. Unusual features of the genome and systematic approaches to its functional analysis are described and discussed.
