Malignant Mesothelioma of the Tunica Vaginalis Testis: A Case Report and Literature Review

A 54-year-old male complained of bilateral inguinal region pain. Under the impression of bilateral inguinal hernia, operation was performed. A testicular tumor was found during operation, orchiectomy of the right testis was done. An ill-defined whitish firm nodular mass measuring 3*2*2 cm in size located at epididymis with adjacent testicular parenchymal involvement and thickening of the tunica albuginea. The laboratory data including complete blood cell count, biochemistry were not remarkable and there was no hydrocele or asbestos exposure. Detail histological, immunohistochemical and ultrastuctural studies revealed a low grade malignant mesothlioma arising from tunica vaginalis testis. The patient was disease-free during the 8-month follow-up period without adjuvant therapy.
