ROAD SAFETY POLICY IN THE NETHERLANDS

This article describes the approach taken by the Netherlands toward decreasing its accident rates and improving general highway safety. There are three main elements of the Dutch policy on improving highway safety: targeting cyclists and traffic congestion; giving more attention to regional and national transportation planning; and developing legislation that influences traffic mobility in some way.
