Abstract

Using $(106\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}4)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}$ $\ensuremath{\psi}(3686)$ events accumulated with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collider, we present the first measurement of decays of ${\ensuremath{\chi}}_{c1}$ to vector meson pairs $\ensuremath{\phi}\ensuremath{\phi}$, $\ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\omega}$, and $\ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\phi}$. The branching fractions are measured to be $(4.4\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.5)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$, $(6.0\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.7)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$, and $(2.2\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.6\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.2)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}5}$, for ${\ensuremath{\chi}}_{c1}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\phi}\ensuremath{\phi}$, $\ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\omega}$, and $\ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\phi}$, respectively, which indicates that the hadron helicity selection rule is significantly violated in ${\ensuremath{\chi}}_{\mathrm{cJ}}$ decays. In addition, the measurement of ${\ensuremath{\chi}}_{\mathrm{cJ}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\phi}$ provides the first indication of the rate of doubly OZI-suppressed ${\ensuremath{\chi}}_{\mathrm{cJ}}$ decay. Finally, we present improved measurements for the branching fractions of ${\ensuremath{\chi}}_{c0}$ and ${\ensuremath{\chi}}_{c2}$ to vector meson pairs.
