Abstract

This study addresses one of the linguistic phenomena in Arabic which is the polysemy. Polysemy is divided into two parts: a- meaning polysemy: the word has more than one meaning. These multi-meanings are very close to each other. Vocal polysemy: The Word is common between more than one meaning which are irrelevant. This study addressed the concept of polysemy and the factors which form this linguistic phenomenon. The study also presented a theoretical side concerning some polysemy in Arabic which were followed lexically so that this phenomena becomes more clear.
