Abstract

STAINLESS STEELS AND NICKEL-COPPER ALLOY ARE OFTEN USED IN SEA WATER, DESPITE BEING SUBJECTED TO PITTING AND CREVICE CORROSION. TYPES 316 AND 304 STAINLESS STEEL AND NICKEL-COPPER ALLOY WERE TESTED WITH ONE SET OF METAL SPECIMENS CATHODICALLY PROTECTED AND A SECOND SET LEFT UNPROTECTED. RESULTS INDICATED CATHODIC PROTECTION AIDED IN PREVENTING PITTING AND CREVICE CORROSION. /AUTHOR/
