A vascular necrosis in the treatment of neglected congenital dislocation of the hip

42 neglected congenitally dislocated hips of 32 patients who were treated surgically were followed up for a mean of 2,5 years and evaluated for avascular necrosis, The average age was 6,5 years. There were 21 hips with avascular necrosis. Excellent or good results were obtained in more than half of these hips. The deformities, frequently seen, were short and broad femoral neck and coxa magna as a result of avascular necrosis. Clinical tesults were satisfactory with the presence of these two type deformities.
