Abstract

Electromagnetic effects due to vertical risers of a finite-length transmission line are studied from the view point of a circuit concept. Those effects can be taken into account in an expression of the modified telegrapher's equations. From a set of solutions to the equations, a new chain matrix is obtained. The effects of the resonance frequencies are discussed using the scattering parameters: S/sub 21/ and S/sub 11/. The effectiveness of this theory is confirmed by a comparison between the measured and computed results.
