Abstract

Abstract Chemical imaging or vibrational hyperspectral imaging is a form of imaging in which chemical information from spectroscopy is combined with spatial information. Hyperspectral images can be collected with a single‐point detector, however array detectors measure all pixels simultaneously, reduce recording time, provide uniform background, and improve the signal‐to‐noise ratio. This article defines chemical imaging and describes image formation and instrumentation in chemical imaging.
