Mathematical logic is a field of mathematics dealing with formalization and logical reasoning. At lower primary education level, logic is part of mathematics classes, mathematical after-school activities and logic competitions while at the higher primary education level logic is also offered as an elective class. Logical reasoning tasks are specific mathematical assignments that can rarely be found in textbooks; therefore, teachers hardly ever use them in classes. \n \nThe theoretical part of this undergraduate thesis deals with definitions, the knowledge of logic, mathematics and logic curricula, the history of logic, sentence (mathematical logic), logical reasoning and the solving of logical problems. The empirical part focuses on students' success in logical reasoning tests and whether there is a connection between test results and final overall mathematics grade. \nThe results indicate that pupils with a higher final mathematics grade also achieve a better grade in logical reasoning tests, more often take part in after-school activities and mathematics competitions and are more often encouraged by teachers towards after-school activities related to mathematics. \n
