Obstructive Uropathy Percutaneous nephrostomy in Seriously ill patients

The availability of ultrasonography has revolutionized the technique of percutaneous approach to the renal tract. Unfit surgical cases of obstructive uropathy presenting for treatment no long need conservative medication. Twenty three patients (22 male and 1 female) were offered percutaneous nephrostomy as an office procedure at the time of their arrival. 11 patients underwent subsequent renal surgery after improvement of renal function parameters with this procedure. ultrasound guided percutaneous nephrostomy is easy, safe and without complications and can be performed in very seriously ill patients without any preparation.
