Abstract
The majority of the data-link layer protocols in use today derive from HDLC. It was developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), and the relevant standard is ISO 3309. This chapter presents a partial list of data-link layer standards spawned by HDLC. It also defines some terms used in HDLC.
