Socioeconomic and psychological status of poultry farmers in Dibrugarh district of Assam.

A survey of 100 farmers revealed that majority of the poultry farmers under study belonged to middle age group i.e. 31–48 years, having medium size family and they were of nuclear type. Majority of the poultry farmers were from Assamese community (80) and married (77). The educational qualification of majority of the respondents was above high school and below graduation (48). Primary occupation of majority of the farmers was service and they were belong to high income group. Most of the farmers had medium size poultry farm (26–655) and low social participation, media contacts and exposure to welfare department. They had medium risk orientation and economic motivation.
