Abstract
This chapter provides information on the economic impact of livestock diseases that affect a range of species. The losses and costs associated with disease control and eradication are given focus. The diseases considered are foot and mouth disease, anthrax, tuberculosis, salmonellosis, brucellosis, trypanosomiasis, bluetongue, echinococcosis/hydatidosis, paratuberculosis, rabies, Yersinia infections, bovine diarrhoea virus and border disease virus, Campylobacter , rotavirus, Chlamydia / Chlamydophila , Neospora caninum and cryptosporidiosis.
