Abstract

In a greenhouse experiment with sorghum given a basal dressing of N, P, K, Mn and Zn, DM yield was increased by the application of 5 p.p.m. Fe and decreased with 10-20 p.p.m. Fe. Yield was increased with 2.5 p.p.m. Cu and was decreased with 5-10 p.p.m. Cu. Application of 2.5 p.p.m. Cu decreased the Fe content but increased the Fe uptake by plants; 5-10 p.p.m. Cu decreased both. Applied Cu increased Cu content and uptake, decreased the Zn content and increased the Mn content. The highest uptake of Zn and Mn in plants occurred with 2.5 p.p.m. Cu. Applied Fe increased Fe content and uptake and decreased the Cu, Zn and Mn contents, but their uptake was highest with 5 p.p.m. Fe. Application of CaCO3 decreased DM yield and uptake of Fe, Cu, Mn and Zn
