Abstract
Purpose Comparison of characteristics of advanced programmable logic microchips Altera's Stratix 10 and Arria 10 and FPGAs of the previous generation Stratix V and Arria V Methods of Research The article deals with the analysis of new programmable logic microchips FPGA (Altera Company), one of the world’s famous FPGA manufacturers, designed and announced in 2013. The ways of FPGA development, requirements, specifications and capacities of Stratix 10 and Arria 10 as compaired with that of the previous generation are given here. The main specific feature of the Stratix 10 is the 10 nm technology in manufacturing of transistors Intel 3D Tri-Gate; and the 20 nm technology for Arria 10, encreasing the number of logic elements and, as a consequence, its efficiency while decreasing power consumption. Results The results of the research may be interested to specialists in the field of designing and usage of digital devices based on FPGA.
