Abstract

According to the Tenth Five-year Plan (2002-2005) of Shanghai, the construction for Shanghai's rail transit system has been brought into line with the key development plan. This urban rapid transit network is gradually taking shape, ranging from south to north and from east to west. Upon successful completion of the system, the 200-km length of rapid transit lines will be available. The article provides brief views of the specific transit projects based on the Five-year plan. The construction speed has been precedented neither in the past, nor in any other city in the world.
