Abstract

In this paper we present the analysis of an automotive pattern reconfigurable LTE antenna. The reconfigurability options are divided into single and multiple reconfigurable antennas to be applied in either reconfigurable SISO or in reconfigurable MIMO systems. For both we present simulation based channel capacity calculation techniques. The channel simulations are performed using a deterministic simulation tool based on ray tracing within urban and rural automotive environments. For the performance evaluation the calculated channel capacity of the reconfigurable antenna system in comparison to appropriate SISO and SIMO systems is employed.
