Abstract
Abstract The derivation of the distribution of the galactic supernova remnants by ILOVAISKY and LEQUEUX (1972) is critically examined. We propose an empirical method for the correction of observational effects and present a revised surface-density curve of the galactic supernova remnants, which is similar to the surface-density curve of the supernovae themselves reported by JOHNSON and MACLEOD (1963) for spiral galaxies. Some consequences of the revision are briefly discussed.
