Abstract
There is an urgent need to understand what approaches are most effective in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and where to target such efforts in global dairy production. This chapter takes a food chain approach to the estimation of GHG emissions from the dairy cattle sector, assessing emissions from the production of inputs into the production process, emissions related to dairy production, land use change, milk transport and processing.
