Abstract
The experiment was designed to study the histological and micro-anatomical structure and micrometrical observation of lung in12 male and 12 female buffaloes. Various micrometrical observations like diameter of large, small and terminal bronchiole, length of respiratory bronchiole, diameter of alveolar sac and alveoli and the thickness of visceral pleura were carried out. The diameter of large bronchiole and terminal bronchiole, thickness of visceral pleural was significantly higher in female than male. Other remaining parameters were statistically non-significant. The alkaline phosphatase activity was weak to moderate in all components of the lung lobes except left apical lobe in male and female. Thicknesses of respiratory bronchial and visceral pleura were significantly higher in male than female.
