Abstract
Correlation and path coefficient analysis in 48 advanced generation lines of okra were worked out. Significant differences among genotypes were observed for all the characters except for virus incidence. Heritability and genetic advance as percentage of mean was found to be higher in fruit length, plant height, number of fruits/plant and virus incidence. Marketable yield/plant, fruit weight, fruit length, number of fruits/plant and plant height were positively and significantly correlated with total yield/plant. Path analysis revealed that marketable yield/plant, number of fruits/plant, fruit weight, fruit length and plant height had maximum direct effect on total yield, indicating that emphasis should be given on such characters to improve yield potential.
