Abstract

Barley powdery mildew caused by the obligate biotroph Blumeria (Erysiphe) graminis hordei (Bgh) is estimated to be the most important disease of barley in Western Australia resulting in ca. $33m in losses (Murray and Brennan, 2010). At present the strategies for management include the use of resistant cultivars and the fungicides.
