Taipei's extensive 50-km bus lane system, expected to cost around $10 million, has proven remarkably successful to date but has received little attention in the West. With its inception in the late 1980s, the Taipei bus lane system has been rapidly implemented in stages through the 1990s and early 2000s. This article provides a look at the ongoing development of the Taipei bus lane system to date, and discusses future goals.
