In all cases the surgical removal of the benign pelvic tumor proved to be the only step necessary to relieve the patient of the ascites and pleural effusion. These investigators pointed out that "the importance of such lesions in medical and surgical problems seems very great, for unexplained pleurisy with effusion and unexplained ascites are problems that occasionally confront our internists.
